In Eqs. 3 and 4, (y_i) and ({hat{y}}_{i}) are the measured and predicted biologically associated values for compound i, respectively, and (bar{y}) is the mean of all activities from the compounds in the data set.
Next, they assume that the future inflows, although generated from sampling within the same stochastic model, are known and use deterministic dynamic programming to obtain the optimal controls and associated values for each set of inflows.
