(BOSTON) — The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University has appointed one new Core Faculty member and three new Associate Faculty members.
With Harvard's Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE), researcher Jeraul Mackey examined 3,679 associate faculty members who had received tenure in the past six years.
In addition, Wood, together with other Wyss Core and Associate Faculty Members, is exploring soft-bodied autonomous robots and soft devices for human-robot interaction and rehabilitation.
The Wyss Institute currently has 18 Core Faculty and 16 Associate Faculty members from Harvard and its partner institutions who are leaders in the field of Biologically Inspired Engineering.
The ambitious effort will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where a dozen faculty and 30 associate faculty members will be supported by a starting budget of $30 million a year.
The Faculty has over 11,000 members comprising over 6000 senior researchers who are Faculty Members and about 5000 younger researchers acting as Associate Faculty Members.
