Using publication data, we have described trends in the volume and subject areas of medical informatics research output for the 1987–2006 period and provided insight into growth and increasing "visibility" of the field through assignment of yearly total impact scores.
Annotation of the metasecretome and metagenome sequence reads via IMG/M system [ 50] resulted in 35% and 49% Pfam [ 51] assignments of the total protein coding genes, respectively, which were further categorised into COG-based functional categories.
Results of the CAZyme Analysis Tool (CAT) revealed that the most encoded CAZyme domain included the Glycoside Hydrolase (GH) family (~50 % of total assignment), followed by the Carbohydrate Binding Modules (CBM) (~30 %), Glycosyl Transferases (GT) (~15 %) and a rest of the proportion (~5 %) comprising Pectate Lyases (PL) and Auxiliary Activities (AA) (Additional file 5: Figure S4).

However, this randomization formally leads to higher interference amounts of the assignment, regarding total numbers.
