In large-scale computer communication networks (e.g. the nowadays Internet), the assignment of link capacity and the selection of routes (or the assignment of flows) are extremely complex network optimization problems.
It can be also seen in Fig. 1 that with the same assignment of link qualities, different working schedules result in different single-hop delays, even when they have the same duty cycle and time span.
As traffic between the Internet and clients is considered to be dominant, distance from the gateway, number of neighbors, and interference are used to determine the channel assignment order of links.
