The phrase "assess myself" is a correct and usable phrase in written English.
It can be used to describe a situation in which someone is evaluating their own abilities, accomplishments, or character. For example, "I decided to take some time to assess myself and figure out what I wanted to do with my life."
However, doing self- and peer-assessment to assess myself and my friends is problematic since I do not think I am that much proficient in doing that types of assessment.
