The phrase "asserted that the continued" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing someone's claim or statement regarding an ongoing situation or action.
Example: "The researcher asserted that the continued use of renewable energy sources is essential for combating climate change."
Alternatives: "claimed that the ongoing" or "stated that the persistent".
