Even if using the ascending orbit data, the interferogram is limited to the stripmap-stripmap pair which covers only the central area of the source region.
How about ascending the Acropolis?
Figure 2 shows the interferogram obtained from the ascending orbit data of path 403 acquired before, and after, the Mj 7.0 event (3 March, 2011 18 April , 2011.
In the original ascending InSAR data covering the seismic sequence, we also identified positive range changes of around 14 cm in the NW and SW side of the interferogram that were outside the epicentral areas.
The maximal deformation region of the coseismic field obtained from the descending track data is fundamentally consistent with that of the subsidence region obtained from the ascending track data.
The coseismic deformation field of LOS obtained from the ascending track data (Fig. 2a, c) presents a shape of a long flat oblate with the long axis trending to the NW with a maximal uplift and subsidence of 0.07 and 0.21 m, respectively.
The same fault geometry of four faults, which was used is the ascending InSAR data, i.e., RLF1, RLF2, LLF1, and LLF2, is shown.
A quasi-vertical displacement estimated by combining the ascending and the descending data shows that the uplift area was distributed in the southern region, and the maximum displacement of ~1.5 m was estimated around 20 km northeast from Kathmandu (Kobayashi et al. 2015).
Each datum of a distribution was sorted in ascending order, and the data in the same rank were averaged together.
Figure 4 shows a quasi-vertical component, calculated from the ascending and the descending data of Fig. 2 (Fujiwara et al 2000).
