The phrase "as the default option" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when referring to a choice or setting that is automatically selected unless an alternative is specified.
Example: "In the software settings, the dark mode is set as the default option for all users."
Alternatives: "as the standard choice" or "as the preset option".
The key is to remove the status quo as the default option.
