Going back to the research questions examined in this pilot study, as regards question one, the study rejects the first null hypothesis and accepts the alternative hypothesis that there is a relationship between topic familiarity and writing performance as measured by essay score.
These issues have been extensively discussed elsewhere (as regards question (1), see e.g. [ 6, 7]; as regards question (2) see e.g. [ 8, 9]), which demonstrates the importance attached to these issues.
