The phrase "as more wise" is not correct in standard written English.
It is not a commonly used expression and does not follow the grammatical rules for comparative adjectives.
Example: "He is considered as more wise than his peers." (This should be corrected to "He is considered wiser than his peers.")
Alternatives: "wiser" or "more knowledgeable".

What we learn from these poems is that powerful mantra, "retune, retune, retune" attention -- to keep imagining oneself more compassionate, more wise -- ("even as I read now about tortures in Iraq or Guatanamo"), more loving, more capable of grasping poetry's insights, more capable of loving the "idolatrous splintered common life" these superb poems define.
Mechanisms such as more step-wise losses due to, for instance, partial remissions might explain this (15).
