Public rallies in support of citizens' right to assemble, as guaranteed by Article 31 of the Russian constitution, were held in Moscow and other large cities on the last day of every month containing 31 days.
His attack focused on a pivotal judgment made by Lord Bingham, in a case called Ullah, in 2004 relating to the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion as guaranteed by Article 9 of the European convention on human rights.
One of the grounds of his appeal, John Jones QC, told BBC radio, was that he was being denied his right to a family life as guaranteed by article eight of the European convention on human rights.
"These measures, if confirmed, may have a potentially chilling effect on journalists' freedom of expression as guaranteed by Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights [ECHR]," he wrote.
Denial of self-determination over food and medicine is a repudiation of fundamental rights of autonomy as guaranteed by Article 24 Section 1 of the UN Deceleration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (quoted above).
Housing needs to be recognized as a human right (guaranteed by Article 22 of Haiti's constitution), with concrete, immediate steps to empower people to return to a safe home and basic services (e.g. water, sanitation, health care, and education) made available to all, regardless of residency status.
As the court of appeal explained: "What is required is a real risk of a breach of the principles of a fair trial guaranteed by article 6 which is 'so fundamental as to amount to a nullification, or destruction of the very essence, of the right guaranteed by that article'".
This may happen if law enforcement officers themselves commit crimes by using agents provocateur in a particularly egregious manner to entrap accused persons into committing crimes, and the Attorney-General elects to prosecute only the accused persons but not the officers, as this may infringe the accused persons' right to equality guaranteed by Article 12(1) of the Constitution.
The state's distinctive status guaranteed by Article 370, which gives its citizens and government special rights, must be upheld.
"Unsanctioned" is something of a euphemism, since freedom of assembly is guaranteed by Article 31 of the Russian Constitution.
"The Rapporteur will make the case that we need a specific legal tool to protect the right to private life guaranteed by Article 7," he added.
