Deletions on MSYq lead to teratozoospermia and subfertility or infertility, with a sex ratio skew in the offspring of subfertile MSYqdel males We report the highly unusual genomic structure of a novel MSYq locus, Orly, and a diverse set of spermatid-specific transcripts arising from copies of this locus.
It is possible that the larger bands detected by the S1.f2/N2.r2 primer pair arises from copies of the Orly locus where the exon S1.f1 and/or N2.r1 primer binding sites are mutated.
