She is especially enamored of the old, now semi-abandoned towns in the fertile area sloping down from Mount Etna, in the eastern third of Sicily, and of a friendly town in the Madonie Mountains in north-central Sicily called Polizzi Generosa, where "my kitchen balcony hung out over a valley so deep it made me dizzy".
The fields mainly developed in the paleo-uplift area, slope area, and platform margin reef shoal bodies in the basins (Table 5).
The adopted approach was Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) based multicriteria decision analysis technique, and the evaluation criteria were roof area, slope, drainage density and runoff coefficient.
Outcrop-scale true diversity was positively related to outcrop area, slope, and rock cover, and negatively related to the distance to the nearest outcrop.
Of the 11 LUC units that occurred in the study area, slope failures were densest (0.23 ha−1) for unit VIe11 (Table 2) with a correspondingly high sediment generation rate of ~100 t ha−1 (Additional file 4).
The final dataset includes distance to main road, distance to green spaces, distance to faults, distance to developed area, slope, elevation, distance to district centers and number of developed cell in a 3 by 3 neighbourhood (Fig. 6).
The results showed a close relationship between SCY rates and catchment morphometric properties such as catchment area, slope gradient and lithology, while C concentration in sediments was correlated to the percentage of forest cover in a catchment.
The cul-de-sacs section assessed the potential recreational environment within a cul-de-sac and included items about the size and condition of the surface area, slope, surveillance from surrounding homes, and amenities (e.g., basketball hoops).
The comparison showed that the head-area slopes for both the equation and the FEA were within or close to the 95% confidence intervals of the experimental study.
