This may be an area of evidence based practice relatively easy to disseminate and implement, as use of suturing materials would be an organisation wide decision rather than reliant on an individual clinician.
In an earlier study, through systematic review, it was found that to prepare competent community oriented health providers, the curriculum in addition to clinical skills must also concentrate in the areas of Public Health, Leadership & Management, Community Development & Advocacy, Research, Evidence Based Practice and Cultural and Generic Competencies [ 9].
Given the insufficient research base describing any adverse effects in some of these patient groups, providing evidence based practice in these areas will remain inadequate and naturopaths will need to continue practising with caution.
