The challenges of this dataset are viewpoint changes (around 90 degrees for most of pairs of images) and illumination changes.
Our main conclusion is to clarify an important point about visuo-haptic cross-modal object recognition: that the underlying representation is viewpoint-independent even for unfamiliar objects lacking distinctive local features.
There are two possible viewpoints for the trial.
Both static and dynamic viewpoints are catered for.
The main viewpoints are: (1) for symmetrical programmed current, the amplitudes of the successive currents are the same, i.e. I t) = (−1)i+1I0, whereas the transition times of each current step, τi, have different values.
