The phrase "are somewhat misguided" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used to express that someone's beliefs or actions are not entirely accurate or appropriate, but with a degree of leniency.
Example: "While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I believe your views on the matter are somewhat misguided."
Alternatives: "are a bit off" or "are not entirely correct".
