You can get to thinking that the single ones are single for a reason.

I'm not much of a Facebook users, so my report isn't all that exciting, but thanks to Wolfram Alpha, I now know that 20.8% of my Facebook friends are single, for example, as well as who my oldest and youngest friends on Facebook are.
For example, people whose spouses have died and older adults who are single for whatever reason may feel excluded from social events intended for couples, or face the presumption that they have a (usually opposite-sex) partner ("And what does your husband do?").
There are things I don't miss about my analog love life: asking around to see if guys are single, for example, or spending untold hours in bars trying to divine through body language and eye contact whether attraction is mutual.
What if their divorce (or legal separation) becomes final one minute before New Year's Eve? Expect a consistent IRS to decree that they are single for the entire year, which means they can't file jointly and must file as single persons.
