The phrase "are much less efficiently" is not correct in standard written English.
It can be used when comparing the efficiency of two or more subjects, but it needs to be rephrased for grammatical accuracy.
Example: "These machines operate much less efficiently than the newer models."
Alternatives: "are significantly less efficient" or "function with much lower efficiency."
