Early school leavers and young adults who have left school with a lower secondary qualification (general school diploma) have little chances of a proper vocational training as well as few options to receive an apprentice position according to their interests and aptitudes (ibid, p. 109ff).
The proportion of completers among students admitted based on upper secondary/high school grades was 75%, which did not significantly differ from the 79% completion rate found in the group of students admitted based on Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test points (p > 0.20).
Likewise, higher AWM/Attn correlated with higher music aptitude (r = 0.44, p < 0.005).
The results are reported in Figure 1, where sequences are assigned to specific "folding aptitude" classes, according to the p-value calculated by RANDFOLD.
All path coefficients were significant except for the path between Tonal Aptitude and Composite Music Aptitude (r2 = 0.03, p = 0.31).
There were, however, significant correlations between the overall average examination attempts needed to pass and upper secondary/high school grades (rs = –0.4, p < 0.001) and Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test points (rs = –0.4, p < 0.001), indicating a decreasing number of attempts needed with increasing upper secondary/high school grades and Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test points.

Although IQ did not correlate with overall music aptitude or the tonal aptitude subscore (composite: r = 0.25, p = 0.11; tonal: r = 0.02, p = 0.89), it correlated with the rhythm aptitude subscore (r = 0.38, p < 0.02).

There was a significant correlation between upper secondary/high school grades and NCFE score (r = 0.3, p < 0.001), but not between Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test points and NCFE score (r = 0.0, p > 0.20).
