Federal Reserve policy makers unanimously approved raising interest rates by a quarter percentage point at their March 21 meeting, preferring to stick with what they called a gradual approach to monetary policy absent evidence of surging prices, according to minutes released today.
The Bloomberg Media Index, which includes newspaper, radio, cable and cable programming companies (including The New York Times Company), was at 106 last Tuesday, the day before the market rally precipitated by news on Wednesday afternoon that Mr. Greenspan and his colleagues at the Fed approved an interest rate cut.
Some reports with other antibiotics had approved the interest of such modality.
The differences between Sir Alan and Mr Lawson undermined the Chancellor's firm exchange rate policy, since the markets could not be confident that Mrs Thatcher would approve the interest rate rise or the intervention needed to hold the exchange rate.

Although not imposing an explicit time-limit, the majority in Grutter v. Bollinger expressed an aspiration that "25 years from now, the use of racial preferences will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today".
"In our view, too often decisions have been made to have a product approved in the interest of the industry rather than public or patient health," Carome remarked.
