The start of Regime II coincides with the onset of strain hardening and the distance between the hard segments increases appreciably with stretching in this regime.
The observation of a local extinction phenomenon of the negatively stretched flame due to the flame curvature could not be consistently explained based on flame stretch or the Karlovitz number, since they varied appreciably with the jet velocity.
Furthermore, the relation D/G remains unchanged, indicating that stretching does not appreciably introduce defects.
The carbonyl adsorption of the peptide bond in this case is not a pure C=O stretching mode but is appreciably coupled with the C-N stretch and to some extent with the NH bend [ 20, 27]; hence the amide I band is believed to reflect the molecule-conformational information about the protein secondary structure involving α-helix, β-pleated sheet, β-turn, random coil and so forth [ 27].
However, future models must reconcile this finding with results (see above), based on effects of nucleotide analogs and drugs [ 197, 202, 208, 210], varied temperature, and altered Pi-concentration [ 209], suggesting that prepower stroke cross-bridges in the AM.ADP.Pi state contribute appreciably to the stretch response.
