In some cases (e.g. INRA111, group = breed), fitting age appreciably raises the P-value, perhaps suggesting that genotype was to some extent picking up an effect due to a correlation between breed and age.
Thus, the models all fitted appreciably better with the extra degrees of freedom, implying that the individual subject curves also have the same underlying shape.
Elsewhere, fitting age sometimes appreciably lowers the P-value, in several cases suggesting a hit that is not seen when age is not fitted.
Few of these fish were retained by the normal cod-end, either with or without the square-mesh panel, suggesting that fitting the square mesh panel did not appreciably improve the selectivity of the cod-end design used in these trials.
