The phrase "application of conventions" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used in contexts where you are discussing the implementation or use of established rules or practices in a particular field or situation.
Example: "The application of conventions in this research study ensures that the findings are credible and reliable."
Alternatives: "implementation of standards" or "use of protocols".
The discrepancies in the application of the conventions, and the growing critique with the UN orthodoxy have produced cracks in the armour of this "war".
