"To meet our obligations under Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) legislation, we are required to provide comprehensive and transparent information to applicants, including in relation to fees, on the university website and at pre-application open days," the university said.
It added that banning people who already own another property and stopping applicants including a third party (other than a joint tenant) on their mortgage application "would help to make sure the scheme is genuinely helping people to become homeowners, not allowing them to become private landlords or to pass the property on to relatives".
All other applicants, including international students, will be offered accommodation subject to availability.
