"If you can train the body to do this on a broader scale, you could have something that's very widely applicable," says Irvine.
"We generally like to see not only an initial discovery in a trial but we like to see confirmatory trials to be sure that in the broadest kind of sense, in the general population that these findings are going to be applicable," says Dr Lawrence Piro, a cancer specialist at The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute.
"We're looking into seeing what laws might be applicable," said John Bankhead, the director of public affairs for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
"All legal tools, all anti-money laundering systems, are applicable," said Oleksiy Feshchenko, an anti-money laundering expert at the UNODC.
As a result, the findings and warnings of the 2003 report should be "broadly applicable," said Niall Burton, one of the original authors.
This year, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery released a paper declaring that co-management should be "an exceptional, rather than a routine, occurrence," applicable, say, to someone who lives far from the surgeon.
But the approach used in Kansas may not be universally applicable, said Richard B. Walker, a trial judge in Newton, Kan., who is a former chairman of the state's Sentencing Commission.
There's another applicable saying.
What about three and four states – if method becomes more complicated or not applicable, say so.
"Maybe some tax is applicable," she says, "but I think there is a way to manage it in a really positive way for everyone.
StubHub insists AG can't be said to have "won" her case, because it was unaware of the legal claim: "It is disappointing to receive a default judgement where StubHub did not have the opportunity to defend or represent itself in court, and more importantly where our site is fully compliant with applicable laws," says a spokesperson.
