On the back of this board was a prepared grouping of cards of an identical nature (size, color) to those used in the CST but fixed into two groups: (1) Appendix items 1 and 2, which focused on evolutionarily peripheral patterns and (2) the other eight items about evolutionary patterns.
Other external variables derived from the previous findings in literature [ 1, 2, 6, 7, 11, 13- 15, 21, 23],[ 24] were also addressed in Question 16 (Additional file 1: Appendix, items also listed in Table 1).

We abandoned the use of 18S Ribosomal RNA as housekeeper (see also Appendix A, item 6), since the primers and probe provided as part of an ABI RNA control reagents kit were of a faulty design (22).
