The total score of the School Functioning, Pain and hurt, Perceived physical appearance, and Communication subscales for child self-report did not approach or exceed 0.70.
[ 20- 22] It has proven a reliable and valid QoL assessment tool [ 23] with subscales for determining problems in relevant areas during cancer treatment such as pain, nausea, treatment and procedural anxiety, worry, cognitive problems, perceived physical appearance and communication.
For children, the 'procedural anxiety' and 'worry' subscales were strongly correlated with 'physical health' and 'emotional functioning'; the 'cognitive problems' subscale was strongly correlated with 'school functioning'; and 'perceived physical appearance' and communication' subscales were strongly correlated with the 'social functioning' subscale.

Identification of problems in the domains of perceived physical appearance, treatment anxiety, and communication problems involves referral to psychosocial treatment programs and the need to enhance participation in social activities, such as camps.
