This can be interpreted as the substitution of pendant (-N3) groups for (-Cl) groups on PECH-diol main chain not having any marked effect on the solubility parameter value of PECH gel.
However, the expression of MtRDR1 did not result in any marked effect on TMV accumulation in the directly inoculated leaves, suggesting that the major effect of RDR1 is to protect plants from systemic infection.
