includes any assignee of any creditor with respect to credit extended in connection with any consumer credit transaction and any subsequent assignee with respect to such credit.
Any consumer who has the right to rescind a transaction under section 1635 of this title may rescind the transaction as against any assignee of the obligation.
The term "creditor" means any person who regularly extends, renews, or continues credit; any person who regularly arranges for the extension, renewal, or continuation of credit; or any assignee of an original creditor who participates in the decision to extend, renew, or continue credit.

A protected-series transferable interest under § 102(10) is basically the economic right to distributions from a protected series, and a protected series transferee is an assignee of that interest, which -- very importantly -- includes the interest (if any) of a former associated member of the protected series.
What alarms them is an "assignee liability" provision that would hold them partly responsible for lax lending by originators.
