First, as anticipated, factors suggestive of more complex patients were associated with both basic and novel usage.
For instance, possessing high self-efficacy or a 'can-do' attitude was found to predict good quality of life, along with more commonly anticipated factors such as good physical health and functional ability [ 36, 37].
Crucially, of course, the timely intervention can prevent further functional decline – anticipating factors leading to increased dependence with its consequent health risks.
However, it is unclear the extent to which anticipatory affect factors (affective attitudes, implicit associations, and affective associations), anticipated affect factors (anticipated regret, anticipated pride), and cognitive factors (self-efficacy, intentions) explain overlapping or unique variance in affective response to exercise.
