Apple's newest handset seems to have a minor problem with its antenna band.
The original readers were finicky about reading card swipes — and didn't work with the iPhone 4's external metal antenna band.
"When the guy holds the iPhone in his hands, touching the outside antenna band in two places, he drops reception," Jesus Diaz, a writer for the blog, said.
As you can see in the video, the phone he's using to demo doesn't have the iPhone 4S's second antenna band on the side.
Below that, a thin black antenna band runs across the width of the phone, the only spot where the feature is fully pronounced, largely obscured by the glass face up top.
The rear of the device is a combination of glass and metal with a fingerprint reader smack dab in the center, along with an antenna band along the bottom and Google's new "G" logo along the bottom.
These include two previously announced colours, the aquamarine-ish Ocean Depths and the dark matte "Stellar Gray," but also the surprising third options, which adopts the shiny black back of the current all-black Essential, but with the copper titanium antenna band of the Ocean Depths colorway.
