This strange collection includes such apparently antagonistic figures as Charles Pasqua, the leader of a hard-right Gaullist movement, the Rally for France (RPF), and Jean-Pierre Chevènement, the interior minister in Mr Jospin's government, who leads the tiny, left-wing Citizens Movementt.
