Consequently, if this epicenter location of the Sumatra earthquakes is transferred to the Ryukyu subduction system, a possible location for a Sumatra-like earthquake in the Ryukyu area would be in area S (Figure 2d), at the junction of positive and negative gravity anomalies along the boundary of the trench-parallel high anomaly.
