This year Wolverhampton animation students have designed idents for CiTV, while its fashion and textiles students met clothes retailers and designed rugs destined for a high street store.
In their stead, 49 University of Newcastle animation students have rotoscoped a riotous millet of 2,767 hand-drawn frames.
Upon viewing the animation, students completed a posttest assessing their factual and conceptual understanding of molecular binding events.
"This summer," said Heather Collins, an animation student, "has completely deprived me of summer".
"It's ridiculous," said Mr. Miller, a 3-D animation student from Saline, Mich., in an e-mail.
And ever since, Su – a 27-year-old former animation student – has been living the Chinese e-commerce dream.
In Washington Heights, Ms. Collins, the animation student, wants friends to know that she is still alive, even if she has been too hot to call.
The experts also attend Bournemouth's annual animation student show, when the university hires a Soho screening room and invites industry high-flyers to talent-spot.
An animation student may spend all year on a 30-second film, whereas a fine artist will have an array of work, from sketches and paintings to sculptures and text-based pieces.
The other protesters were a Greenpeace employee, Graham Thompson, 34; Leo Murray, 31, an animation student at the Royal College of Art; Olivia Chessel, 20, a youth worker; and Tamsin Omond, 23, an English literature graduate at Cambridge University and volunteer church worker.
Craig McCracken, who created "The Powerpuff Girls" when he was still an animation student at the California Institute of the Arts, suspected that the knowing humor would attract some older viewers, and he was right: the show has become a pop phenomenon, with licensed merchandise appearing everywhere and a feature film in the works.
