Professional scientists are well aware of the theory-laden character of scientific data, but people who are not directly involved in scientific research may still hold the popular and mythical view of experimental data as neutral representations of reality.
In this work we will discuss the virtues and drawbacks of the different hypotheses about basic carbon sites in view of experimental and theoretical results.
