The phrase "and this was mostly" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when you want to indicate that something was primarily or largely the case in a particular context.
Example: "The project was successful, and this was mostly due to the team's hard work and dedication."
Alternatives: "and this was primarily" or "and this was largely".
