The phrase "and the overall methodological" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing research methods, approaches, or frameworks in a broader context.
Example: "The study's findings were significant, particularly in relation to the data collection process and the overall methodological framework employed."
Alternatives: "and the comprehensive methodology" or "and the general methodological approach".
We did not try to retrieve a pooled estimate of the results of the cross-sectional studies for the following reasons: 1) the studies had been performed in very different patient populations, 2) the investigators had used different cut-off points for vitamin B12 deficiency and anaemia, 3) different effect estimates had been calculated and 4) the overall methodological quality was poor.
