In order to derive advanced models of the geomagnetic field (and other higher-level data products) it is necessary to take explicit advantage of the constellation aspect of Swarm.
The emphasis is on describing the nature of the measurement process, from the platforms used to a few of the standard higher-level data analysis tools employed.
Topics include experimental design, detection, image processing, measurement errors, ratio calculation, background correction, normalization, and higher-level data processing.
Unfortunately, even though this rich information can be chronicled and archived in a common repository accessible to all stakeholders or even integrated into a database management system for higher-level data processing, the increasing amount of information and the increasing complexity of its structure make searching and exploring information in the project archive challenging and time-consuming.
