PC12 cells grown in the presence of NGF have a polygonal shape and extend processes of different morphologies (Figure 1).
Following CNS trauma, astrocytes proliferate, hypertrophy, and extend processes, walling off the region around the injury epicenter [62].
Neuropil glial cells migrate between protoglomeruli and extend processes to stabilize the protoglomeruli, as the dendrites of AL neurons grow in and begin participating in synapses at stage 7 [68].

The third is a hybrid of the first two in which the seed clone selecting and extending process is the same as mentioned previously but the overlap is verified using a map-based approach to reduce the risk of false-positive overlaps (Marra et al. 1999).
After injecting AAV-Dio2-iCre-2A-GFP into Ai14 reporter mice, tdTomato was expressed in cells lining the ventral 3rd ventricle and extending processes into the parenchyma, the typical morphology of tanycytes (Fig. 4a).
