By univariate analysis, failure to receive antenatal care was found associated with some maternal factors including maternal age, parity, history of infant death and birth intervals; however, after multivariate analysis, only parity remained as significant factor.
Patients evaluated in this post-hoc analysis continued to receive metformin treatment and any other background anti-diabetes mellitus drug treatments throughout the 52-week open-label extension study, though doses could be adjusted and other anti-diabetes mellitus agents could be added to help achieve an HbA1c < 7.0%.
