Multivariate Cox regression analysis of the association of kidney function at hospital discharge with patient survival was performed, adjusting for age, sex and surgical or nonsurgical admission type.
Although some of these investigations accounted for traditional CVD risk factors and history of prior CVD, the present DHS analysis demonstrates that measures of kidney function and UACR remained independently associated with all-cause mortality and CVD-mortality accountingunting for traditional CVD risk factors and CAC [ 4].
Therefore, for analysis of the protein handling portion of kidney function, available proteins secreted into the urine downstream of kidney were subtracted from the plasma and urine proteomes to form the effective input and output proteomes, respectively (Figure 1).
