The Yanagida laboratory has pioneered studies of quiescent S. pombe cells, including genetic analyses of quiescence entry, short-term maintenance, and exit; unlike stationary-phase cells limited for glucose, quiescent cells remain metabolically active by recycling nitrogen and can survive for several weeks if glucose remains available (Shimanuki et al. 2013; Yanagida 2009).
In the second set of analyses, the order of entry was reversed; first, the acceptance scores were tested for entry, and then the coping scores were tested.
We examined mortality in stratified analyses by year of entry, type of task, rank group (rank), duration of employment and time since first employment (duration of observation).
