A dozen literary reviews and two meta-analyses of congruence research, operationally defined using John Holland's (1959) theory, continue to reveal a mixture of significant and nonsignificant relations between congruence and a variety of work-related behaviors.
However, in most of our analyses the level of congruence with the full data set was lower and/or became more erratic when sampling intensity was reduced to one-third or less of the original number of samples.
