And to be a successful expert communicator you need a nice big juicy message to communicate; something that will make them sit up in their seats and take notice of you.
The current 2005 version is based upon the seven core roles of a physician: Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, Scholar, and Professional.
CanMEDS identifies and defines the seven roles required of a competent physician: Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, Scholar and Professional.
The QIIP felt that these competencies would enable the practice facilitators to fulfill seven roles of a change agent: QI expert, communicator, collaborator, system thinker, manager, educator and scholar, and leader.
We based these questions not only on the Dutch Curriculum of EM [5], but also on the CanMED roles [6], an educational framework that identifies and describes seven roles defining an optimally prepared physician: those of medical expert, communicator, collaborator, manager, health advocate, scholar and professional.
