The 88% death rate for our patient population, the fact that only 14% of patients had an excellent function score after surgery, and the lack of aseptic implant failure by the time of final follow-up examination after an average of 8 years with a conventional TKA raise the question of whether using expensive newer-design implants cost-effectiveness is in octogenarians.
Only 14% of patients had an excellent function score.
Recently, researchers conducted an in-depth study on the excellent function of silver nanoparticles such as photo-electricity [6], catalysis [7], antibacterial [8, 9], biosensors [10], and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) [11].
Postoperatively, four patients had excellent function of the shoulder, four had good function, six were rated as satisfactory, and one as poor.
The reported preservation rate of "excellent" function after the removal of large tumors is 42 52.6% [ 55– 55].
