The opportunity cost is related to the benefit the startup could realize if they had performed an alternative action instead of participating in the accelerator.
We mean merely that the action was taken when an alternative action was available, in some sense of 'available' normally established by the context of the particular analysis.
Defenders of satisficing models, for example, think that a given action can be rational even when it is acknowledged by the agent that an alternative action would bring about a more valuable state of affairs.
