With the small amount of local pollinators from the winter syconia and potential immigrating foundresses from other populations, the pollinator population size can increase very quickly from almost zero to over 40,000 wasps for this 29-tree local population within a season.
He also suggested that corolla-tube elongation might itself select for pollinators with longer tongues, as there should be a positive correlation between tongue length and the amount of nectar that pollinators can extract from deep flowers.
Each corresponds to a different group of pollinators (See Pollination).
A decrease in nectar quantity and sugar content in response to global warming reduces the amount of resources available for pollinators and thus can have negative effects on plant pollinator interactions (Hegland et al. 2009; Hoover et al. 2012; Scaven and Rafferty 2013).
Our results demonstrate that in case of moderate warming, as predicted in the Mediterranean region for the next two decades, nectar sugar production and consequently the amount of resources available for pollinators could be moderately adversely affected in the case of some Mediterranean species (e.g. B. acetabulosa) and might even be benefitted in others (e.g. T. divaricatum).

Indeed, if host shifts preferentially occur between closely related hosts [ 69], then the limited amount of evidence suggesting host-pollinator co-cladogenesis in section Chlamydodorae [ 36] could easily result from host shifts.
Specifically, flowers offer a small amount of nectar as rewards to pollinators in MB whereas in the EH, flowers offer live aphids as rewards to some pollinators.
Their large inflorescences produce copious amounts of nectar for a wide array of pollinators, including bats, birds, bees, and hawkmoths (Slauson, 2001).
However, on the forested edges of fields, we did find a positive correlation between the amount of forest surrounding a field and the abundance of pollinators.
