The phrase "amended because of" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when explaining the reason for a change or modification in a document, policy, or agreement.
Example: "The contract was amended because of the new regulations imposed by the government."
Alternatives: "revised due to" or "modified as a result of".
Correction 3 September 2014: The video on this page has been removed and the text amended because of an error conflating ZMapp with the new vaccine.
It should therefore be a definition which has overwhelming support, not something amended because of a vocal minority.
