The phrase "alternative lag" is not a standard expression in written English and may cause confusion.
It could potentially be used in contexts discussing different types of delays or alternatives to a lagging situation, but clarity is essential.
Example: "In our analysis, we need to consider the alternative lag that may arise from using different data sources."
Alternatives: "substitute delay" or "different lag".
In sensitivity analyses, alternative lag periods were used and cases identified through hospitalisations were included (see appendix).
