The phrase "alternative cases" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing different scenarios or situations that could occur as substitutes for a primary case or example.
Example: "In alternative cases, we may need to consider different outcomes based on varying assumptions."
Alternatives: "different scenarios" or "various situations".
